Reflection1. Identify at least two elements of TPE Standard 6 (Developing as a Professional Educator) that are relevant to the assignment/artifact that you have chosen.
- TPE Standard 6 elements 1 and 2 the state 1. Reflect on their own teaching practice and level of subject matter and pedagogical knowledge to plan and implement instruction that can improve student learning. 2. Recognize their own values and implicit and explicit biases, the ways in which these values and implicit and explicit biases may positively and negatively affect teaching and learning, and work to mitigate any negative impact on the teaching and learning of students. They exhibit positive dispositions of caring, support, acceptance, and fairness toward all students and families, as well as toward their colleagues are both coincide with my Inspired Teacher Collaboration Presentation. 2. Discuss how your experience in creating the assignment/artifact influenced your development and provides evidence of your growth as a professional educator. - While working on the Inspired Teacher Collaboration Presentation I took a deeper look into my reasonings behind becoming a teacher. The presentation made me dive into how dedicated, motivated, ethical, and inspired I am as a person and will have be as an educator. 3. Provide an analysis of that growth. - This past month has shown me the amount of effort and energy needed to become a great educator. Prior to this course, I thought knowledge of subject matter is what made teachers great. It takes a lot more than just knowledge. It takes dedicating time and effort to the students in your classroom. It take motivating students when they are not up to working on a particular day in you class. Being able to understand how to reach each student in ways that are comfortable for me as the educator and the students. It takes me showing the right amount of equity to each and every student. I have discovered that I need to put in the right amount of effort in all of the categories listed above to to see the growth I eventually want to see in myself as an educator. 4. Develop a Growth Plan- recommendations (actions) for how you plan to continually improve the elements you identified from TPE Standard 6. - Element 1 and TPE Standard 6 states “Reflect on their own teaching practice and level of subject matter and pedagogical knowledge to plan and implement instruction that can improve student learning”. One way to improve in this element is by continually going to training or courses about improving as educator. Doing classroom observations on colleagues. Attending different seminars that will help with student interaction. - 2. “Recognize their own values and implicit and explicit biases, the ways in which these values and implicit and explicit biases may positively and negatively affect teaching and learning, and work to mitigate any negative impact on the teaching and learning of students. They exhibit positive dispositions of caring, support, acceptance, and fairness toward all students and families, as well as toward their colleagues”. One way I can improve in this element is by not having predetermined notions about my students. I have to allow myself to teach every student with with the same amount of fairness no matter what. 5. How does your assignment/artifact relate to the concept of being an Inspired teacher? Being an Inspired teacher takes a lot of motivation, dedication, and being very ethical. My Inspired Teacher Collaboration Presentation identifies and explains how and what is needed to be an inspired teacher. 6. When you think about inspiring your own students, what are two beliefs and/or values that will guide your decisions? When inspiring my own students trust and comfort are the values that will guide me in my decisions. I believe in order to see and fulfill students full potential they have to absolutely trust me and what I am teaching. If trust is not established early I can lose the classroom and I will not be able to get what I want out of them. I believe comfort is the biggest value that will guide my decisions. Trust and comfort go hand and hand, without the students feeling comfortable with me they will not be able to trust me. I have to show them that mistakes are normal and that everyone makes them even teachers. Also me as the teacher not taking everything serious especially if it’s not. I have to allow each student to be themselves in my classroom.
